About Course
Every time I arrive at a new institution and meet the students, the same thing happens.
I find someone who has been playing for six months, eight months, almost a year — and still hasn’t touched a single piece. Not one. Just method book exercises, isolated scales, positions that “need to be mastered before moving on.”
I can’t believe it. I really can’t.
Where I come from, the philosophy is completely different. In El Sistema de Venezuela — where I grew up as a musician — from week one you’re already playing. Even if it’s a short piece, an arrangement, open strings only. It doesn’t matter. You’re making music. You’re in an ensemble. You’re falling in love with the instrument before anyone gets the chance to tell you it’s hard. Because you can do this — you just need the right guide and to start playing from day one.
Because technique is learned by playing — not by waiting until you’re ready to play.
That’s the reason this course exists. A clear guide to start from scratch and make music in weeks, not years:
- The names of the parts of the instrument.
- How to take care of it.
- How to position it on your body in a natural and comfortable way, finding your ideal technique — because technique should adapt to you, not the other way around.
- Your first scales.
- Your first pieces with piano accompaniment.
If you’re starting from scratch with the double bass and want a practical guide to start playing in record time, this course is for you. Regardless of your age or whether you have any prior knowledge. You come in from zero and leave playing your first scales and pieces with piano accompaniment.
I’ll be with you every step of the way — we’ll have an open chat channel where I’ll be answering your questions throughout the course. See you in the virtual classroom.
